Mock interview practice

Make room to practise, get feedback and try again.

For independent career mentors and coaches arranging one-to-one practice with a learner. Give the session one feedback goal and a clear booking link, so the time goes into practising an answer rather than coordinating calendars.

A rehearsal, with a person

Choose one skill to practise before the real interview.

Agree on a role family, interview format and feedback goal before you meet. For example, a learner preparing for a customer-support role might practise explaining a difficult customer conversation clearly. The mentor asks a practice question and gives feedback; this is preparation, not a real hiring assessment.

A suggested 30-minute agenda

One goal, an answer out loud and a useful retry.

01

5 minutes: agree on context and the goal

Confirm the role family and interview format, then choose one thing to work on: a clearer example, a more concise answer or a better explanation of a decision. Use a fictional or non-confidential example when needed.

02

15 minutes: practise answering out loud

Ask one relevant practice question and give the learner time to answer without interruption. In the customer-support example: describe how you handled a difficult conversation. Ask a follow-up about their reasoning, rather than racing through a long question list.

03

10 minutes: give feedback and retry

Name one strength and one specific improvement linked to the agreed goal. Let the learner try the answer again. Finish with one follow-up action recorded in your own notes: for example, rehearse a two-minute version of the answer before the next interview.

How it works

Start with a template. Make it yours.

  1. 01

    Create a practice appointment

Choose the existing Client consultation template, which starts at 45 minutes. Rename it Mock interview practice and change the duration to 30 minutes for this agenda. Edit the description to explain the practice focus and add your agreed location or external call link.

  2. 02

    Keep preparation short and optional

Add these suggested optional questions yourself: Which role family are you preparing for? What interview format would you like to practise? What feedback would be most useful? These are not a prefilled mock-interview template. Do not request CVs, private employer documents or information about protected personal traits.

  3. 03

Review the agenda and share the link

Use the agenda builder below to adjust the topic timings, then copy the reviewed text into the event description yourself. Set available practice times, a break and any reminder settings before publishing. Share the practice link with the learner; arrange another session only when it serves a clear goal.

Good to know

Know exactly what it does.

  • Calenyo schedules a one-to-one appointment with confirmations, configurable email reminders and secure reschedule or cancellation links. The mentor conducts the practice and gives the feedback.
  • Calenyo does not interview candidates, record or transcribe sessions, score answers, match people to jobs or run hiring assessments. Use an external call service or an agreed meeting location.
  • A practice appointment does not guarantee employment or an interview result. Keep feedback and follow-up notes in your own tool; Calenyo does not collect session payments or automatically transfer an agenda into an event.

Product questions

Questions before you start.

How should I structure a 30-minute mock interview?

Use five minutes to agree on context and one feedback goal, fifteen minutes to practise answering out loud, and ten minutes for feedback and a retry. Finish with one follow-up action. Adapt the timings to the learner rather than promising to cover every possible question.

What should I ask before an interview-practice session?

Ask optionally for the role family, interview format and the feedback the learner wants. Add these questions yourself and keep examples non-confidential. Do not request CVs, private employer documents or protected personal traits in the booking form.

Does Calenyo provide an AI mock interview or a dedicated template?

No. Calenyo coordinates the appointment; a human mentor runs the practice. Start with Client consultation at 45 minutes, rename it and manually change it to 30 minutes for this agenda. Calenyo does not record, transcribe, assess candidates, match jobs or guarantee employment.
